OuttaMyWay! v2.0

Need to make your way through a crowd?

Want to have some fun at parties?

Then what could be better than your own personal lights and siren?

With OuttaMyWay! you have all that you need to part a sea of people so you can get by.

OuttaMyWay! is the most complete, most configurable, most realistic emergency lights and siren simulator available today!

The app simulates emergency vehicle strobe lights (with or without an LED effect) in your choice of 10 light patterns. Choose from 12 authentic sirens including a wind-up Federal-Q to play in any combination. Configure your own Hands Free and Manual siren modes, and much more!

At launch, the app's last-used light pattern fills the screen. Access the many controls by tapping:

  • Double-tap to reveal (or hide) the full strobe, waggle, pattern, and siren controls
  • Single-tap to reveal full screen siren controls

The full controls (accessed with a double-tap) reveal a panel with buttons to control the sirens, light patterns, waggle speed, strobe delay and defeat, and preferences:

  • The sirens are all available in a single sub-panel that includes manual, standby, hands free, and wind-up Q controls. The siren panel can be made full screen as well. The Standby button kills all playing sirens. Tap and hold the Manual button to play the "next" configured manual siren (or the Horn if none are configured). The Manual siren defeats any other playing siren until the button is released, or you can disable "Manual Defeat" in the preferences. Tap and hold the Fed Q button to wind up the siren, release to wind down. These two buttons are colored differently to remind you that these are touch/hold/release buttons. The other siren buttons simply toggle those sirens on and off with each touch. You can play any number of sirens in combination, or with One Touch Sirens enabled via the Preferences you can switch sirens simply by tapping the one you want to be playing. (Depending on your device, speakers, volume setting, and choice of playing sirens, some audio clipiing may be induced.)
  • The waggle speed, strobe delay, strobe effect, and strobe defeat controls let you fine-tune the affect you want.
  • The patterns (Single, Left-Right, Top-Bottom, Diagonal, Cylon, In-Out, Pinwheel, Chevron, Light Stick, and Checkerboard) are accessed from a single sub-panel via the checkerboard button, and the strobe colors can be configured for each pattern individually.
  • The double-gear button reveals the Preferences table for Hands Free setup, Manual setup, LED control, and several other settings. You may also configure the degree to which the non-strobing light dims (all the way to black) for patterns where a strobe might not be strobing (e.g. left-right and top-bottom). You can use this to achieve a very realistic effect, especially using the Left-Right pattern with synchronized colors. You can also configure the Hands Free sirens and interval and the Manual Override Sirens. The Hands Free and Manual Override sirens can be any of the available sirens. When you tap these cells in the Preferences table, a picker appears in which you can select or deselect the sirens. The Hands Free Siren Interval is the duration for which each Hands Free Siren plays before the next siren is played. You can choose an interval between 1 and 30 seconds.

Other recognized gestures in the main strobe display:

  • Tap and hold two fingers to activate the horn quickly; remove your fingers to cancel the horn.
  • Tap and hold one finger for a long touch to toggle between full-color strobes and LED strobes.
